On Monday Room 9 and their brilliant parent helpers ventured out to Portobello Aquarium for the morning, followed up with lunch and a run round at Happy Hen's. It was a beautiful sunny day and there were some great views of the harbour and around the aquarium. While we were there we dissected a squid (yummo!) and inspected the touch tanks. Have a look at the pics from the day :-)
Your task is to leave a comment and say what you enjoyed during the day out and something new you learned at the aquarium.
I liked the touch tanks. It was funny seeing the clam swim away from the starfish
ReplyDeletei liked disecting the squid. i learnt that certain squid can fit through gaps the size of its eyes
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed cutting up the squid hehe :) And i learnt how to tell if a squid is a lady or a dude
ReplyDeletei liked the touch tanks and i loved disecting the squid but it was kinda gross!!!
ReplyDeletei learned that the squid have ink that helps them get a quick get away from there predators and in the ink there is a poison that is not very harmful but does stun the predator for a few seconds giving the squid time to get away.
And i also learnt that our sea animals are very important and some types of plankton that produce at least 70% of oxygen and so therefore they are very important.
and i loved all the photos that you took thanx.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed dissecting the squid and seeing the ink part which is used for survival. I also learnt that some sharks go through 20,000 teeth in their life time - they have a few rows of teeth. Thanks Miss Roney - good day out
